Thursday 9th September 1999

Martin: "I left Frankfurt on the 8.45pm train for the first leg of my eleven-hour trek to Bologna. Three and a half hours later I arrived in Munich, checked into a hotel and started writing emails. At five am the last one is finally out of the door, and I headed for bed and two and a half hours of sleep. Oh goody."

Meanwhile, back in England . . .

Phil: "It's feeling like a dry run for my departure for Australia in just over four weeks....eek. Everything's been laid out and packed about three times and it still doesn't fit too well. Those bloody fins just don't bend. We're only going for the weekend, but the rucksack is completely full. Oh nightmare..... Eventually about one o'clock I've got everything sorted (or so I think), and off to bed."
