Friday 25th October 2002
Kay: "8.45pm: We arrive at the check-in LATE, to be told by the assistant that "we have good news and we have bad news". We take the "good news" and she tells us that we are not late as the flight has been delayed until 11.30pm (that was the bad news). Darren at this point sees an opportunity to chat up the check-in clerk and asks if we can get free beer and food as the flight is delayed but is denied. However, that doesn't stop him asking her out to dinner when he gets back.

We meet Rob, Steph and Ed in the drinking lounge and by that point it is 9.45 and they are starting to close the bar (we have had only one Guinness) and we are all bored stiff. Darren is especially bored: he needs a woman to enlighten him so he get his phone out and starts texting everyone.
We ask Rob to text Eryl so he knows where we are, so he writes "Eryl, we are stuck at the airport on the doobery whatsit" but I am sure that we can forgive him as it was written after 3 Buds and we all know that the drink goes to Rob's head.

We all get called through to the gate to find that the plane is not ready so we just stop in the middle of the floor and after 10 mins we look round and see that a queue is forming behind us so we all park our bums on the floor and spread out so hardly anyone can get by, but that's OK as we are getting comfy now.
We boarded the plane at just gone 12 midnight and we are to the back of the plane where our seats are and Darren spots the Pretty Hostess and straight away starts his corny chat up lines. When will you ever learn Darren, they will not get you anything!!

We landed, passed through customs and collected our bags and waited outside in the FREEZING COLD for some taxis that were taking forever to come.
We arrived at the hostel without event, took our stuff up to the rooms, tried not to wake up the lightweights who had already gone to bed and then went straight back out of the door to find Martin and the rest of the gang who were now I suppose (lucky for them) slightly pissed. We meet them outside a bar, we tried to get in for a beer but it was too late... (1.00am) and was told to try somewhere else. We walked around for what seems like forever just looking for a bar or a nightclub to have a drink but it was just too late so we had to admit defeat and make our way back to the hostel for a round of Hot Chocolate."
