Orkney 5-on-5: Thursday 7th - Sunday 10th May 1998

Another "well, why not?" from Ed, and the rest of us didn't need telling twice! We were the only competing team from south of Edinburgh, and comments were initially made by some of the other teams that we were a top team that had come all this way merely to win the competition and take away the trophy. An easy mistake to make by those who don't know us, but by the end of the Saturday evening we reckon we'd convinced everyone that actually we were just there for the whisky.

We did quite surprise ourselves by how well we did - second in the inter-team competition and joint third in the inter-club tournament - and seem to have made friends (or at least not burned too many bridges) because we've been invited back for the 1999 rematch. See you then!
