C’est avec Martin Reed et Fred Ruiz que j’ai découvert ce sport au sein du club de plongee de Village Neuf (pour les Suisses : c’est en France à 2 km de Bâle ;-) ) J’aime aussi la moto, les voyages, les bons vins et la bonne bouffe. Ce que j’aime le plus c’est ma petite fille que je vais bientot connaître: j’aurai le bonheur d’être mamie pour Noël.

Beruf: Biologiste Spielt seit: November 2014, Basel Grösste Erfolge: La découverte du hockey sub lors d’une manifestation à Mulhouse en 2014. J’ai tout de suite été convaincu par l’aspect technique et ludique de ce sport collectif. Über mich: Etant dans l’équipe technique du club de plongée/apnée Plongée des 3 frontières, je me suis dit : « Pourquoi ne pas monter une section hockey sub au club ». Pour cela il nous fallait le soutien de joueurs confirmés. Martin a été la personne qui a permis de monter ce groupe. Depuis 2014 je viens donc m’entrainer et retrouver un groupe ou la motivation première est de s’amuser. Cela m’aide également dans la pratique de l’apnée et de la plongée. Donc pour s’amuser, se défouler, le plaisir d’être dans l’eau, progresser dans d’autres sports subaquatiques, il faut jouer eu Hockey sub :-)

I remember back in september 2014, when Martin organized a trial session in Basel, I immediately loved it and realized that this was the type of sport I was missing ( Iwas also climbing and running at this time). Dort arbeite ich an der Uni an Problemen aus dem Bereich Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie. Einen Teil der Woche verbringe ich in Lausanne, wo ich im Fruejahr 2018 eine halbe Vorlesung halten werde. Waehrend meines Aufenthalts in Toronto habe ich auch angefangen, Unterwasserrugby zu spielen. In meiner Freizeit lese ich gern, gehe ins Kino oder verfolge das politische Zeitgeschehen. Damals dachte ich sofort, dass das die ideale Sportart für mich sein könnte. Ich suchte nach einem Club in der Ostschweiz und wurde leider nicht fündig, deshalb blieb die Idee erstmal in meinem Hinterkopf. Als ich aber für das Studium nach Zürich kam kontaktierte ich die Wahoos und ich war sofort mit Begeisterung dabei.

Still waiting for a personal highlight! :-) Über mich: I love scuba diving and that is how it started. One of my friends then told me about underwater hockey. "Underwater what???" And I was hooked. I started the Aquarius club in Poland with just a few of my friends. The first years were hard because we had no knowledge about UWH and knew no one to ask, but through trial and error and making by hand all the sticks, pucks, gloves, goals for the club, slowly the knowledge grew. I now live in Geneva with my family and have the opportunity to play in Exocet Leman, the UWH team from Annemasse, France. In the meantime, I co-organised two underwater hockey tournaments in Poland and am currently co-organising the second Polish National Championship.

After about 6 years there I ended up in hockeyless lands until 2001, when I arrived in California and was assimilated by the Borg (Club Puck). In 2006 I moved to Italy, again largely hockeyless, playing occasionally with any team that would take me, usually the Swiss, until 2011. We now have an energetic local club that has started playing once a week (Friday nights) in Sarzana, Italy!"

And also the rare occasions that I manage to shoot a goal against the trainer of the Pécs team! Über mich: I first learned to scuba dive, and loved watching the fish, but then I discovered Underwater Hockey. I never thought that I could say that I was "in love for the first time" but that is really how it was. UWH is a clean hard team sport, basic but not easy. I like going to competitions, playing in other teams as well to learn more and more. I usually play on the left or right side, but don't mind whether at the front or back. My home team is Piranha in Pécs, Hungary, but sometimes I also manage to train with the teams in Budapest, Hungary, and in Munich, Germany. My favourite tournaments are Parma, Ljubljana, Kranj, Sisak, Eszek, Ceske Budejovice and Pancevo.

First of all, I only discovered the sport around 18 years old, after playing B-Ball, skiing, running, swimming and doing nothing. This means a lot of time wasted, so I kinda lost my advantage. But from there on, I quickly began to try to use my superior body to start excelling in hockey. For a few years this went great, going to tournaments like Rome, Parma, Mosseltoernooi, Breda, Kranj... But then the worst/best thing of my life happened!!! I found myself a girl/wife and once again I found myself unable to grow my superior talents. But all stories come to a great end, and after discussing with my wife I am now able to play a fair amount of hockey and focus on the Belgian competition, lowering my "bonus weight" and having fun at foreign tournaments.
