Julie: "Went to Bologna town from hotel, then went to campsite. Nobody spoke English and we managed to describe things with sign language. The guy kept mentioning soup and we thought he was going to make us some - two days later we realised that "soup" was "sub" - Italian for "sub-aqua"."

Martin F: "Eventually we got into the campsite and pitched tent, then walked via McDonalds back into Bologna. Julie thought McDonalds was near!! This needs further highlighting...! We had taken a taxi to the campsite and on the way there Julie reckoned she had seen a McDonalds. So she suggested/said that we should/would go there for lunch. After setting up the tent we started to walk and Julie was positive that we were close to McDonalds. 20 minutes later and we were beginning to wonder whether it had been a mirage. Not so, it did exist. It just happened to be a three- mile walk away !!"

Julie: "We shopped a bit then discovered Italy's electrical storms. After an hour sheltering in a bus stop we decided that the rain wasn't going to stop and ran back to the campsite. Martin was carrying six 1.5 litre bottles of water. I was carrying the wine and food."
